Our preferred software for video appointments is Zoom. We've found that it is secure and easy to use.
Step 1: Pick your device
The first thing you'll need is a device with a microphone and camera. Most laptops have these built-in. You can also use your phone or tablet, or a desktop computer with a microphone and camera.
This guide assumes you’re using a Windows computer. If you're using another device, things will look a little different, but should be similar.
Step 2: Download Zoom
You can download using these links:
Download ‘Zoom Client for meetings’ and install the downloaded file.
Step 3: Make an Account
Start App on your device. You will see a page similar to the below. Click 'Sign In'
Then you'll see the following page. Click 'Sign up' in the bottom right to make an account with your email, or click 'Sign In with Google/Facebook'.
Step 4: Wait for an email
If you've indicated that you would like a Zoom appointment, your psychologist will send you an email with an invitation, either to add you as a contact or to join a meeting.
If your psychologist adds you as a contact, accept their request by following the link in the email. Open Zoom at the time of the appointment and they will call you.
If they send you a meeting invitation, follow the link in the email to join the meeting at the scheduled appointment time.
How to Use a Zoom Meeting
Once you have joined the meeting, you will see a screen like the below.
The video feed of your psychologist will appear in the middle of the screen.
If you have issues with your own audio or video feed, you can click the microphone and camera icons in the bottom left to adjust your settings.
To end the meeting, click 'End Meeting' in the bottom right.
