Clara Morchio believes in creating a space where nothing is too sacred to discuss, so that clients can explore what is important to them and engage in therapy on their terms. She is passionate about helping adolescents and adults learn the skills they need to build a life that they experience as worth living.
Clara Morchio has been trained in a number of evidence-based treatments for numerous disorders, and she has experience working across public and private health settings.
Older Adolescents and Adults with Eating Disorders
Clara’s preferred therapeutic modality for eating disorders is Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy Enhanced for Eating Disorders (CBT-E). CBT-E is a gold standard therapy for adolescents and adults with eating disorders. It offers a both structured and individualised client-centred approach.
Adolescents and Adults with Depression and Anxiety Difficulties (including OCD)
Clara Morchio primarily uses Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when working with clients presenting with anxiety or low mood concerns. CBT helps clients examine and modify their thought processes and actions to enact the changes necessary to reduce their distressing experiences. ACT on the other hand focuses on teaching clients mindfulness strategies to better connect with their values and engage in meaningful activities to enhance their lives.
Clara is also trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT) for adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma. TF-CBT uses cognitive-behaviour principles to help individuals process and overcome their trauma.
Parents of children (3-8 years-of-age) with oppositional/defiant behaviours
When working with parents of children with challenging behaviours aged 3-8 years-of-age, Clara primarily uses Integrated Family Intervention to help parents learn effective strategies to help their children: learn emotion regulation, decrease the frequency and severity of tantrums, improve their self-esteem, reduce their anxiety, and improve their social functioning.
