Alicia Portelli is a warm and friendly Clinical Psychology Registrar.
Her qualifications include a Master of Clinical Psychology with Distinction at Western Sydney University and a Bachelor of Commerce with a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at Macquarie University. She has also received the Dean’s Merit award for Academic Achievement.
She has experience working individually with children, adolescents, and adults in a wide range of presentations not limited to anxiety, mood disorders, stress, worry, self-esteem, behavioural problems, and interpersonal difficulties.
She skilfully employs evidenced based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to meet the complex needs of her clients. Alicia has also co-facilitated an outpatient group program in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and inpatient Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness groups in a public hospital setting.
Alicia Portelli demonstrates sound skills in conducting a wide range of psychometric assessments including intellectual and academic functioning. Alicia is passionate about building the strength and resilience of her clients so that they can improve their quality of life.
Her Master’s thesis examined the rate of mental health problems in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder as well as the mental health problems exhibited by their parents, demonstrating her interest and passion in supporting this population group.
