Practical Support Strategies in Mainstream Education for students with challenging behaviour
Day 1 – Pre-School to Year 6
An exciting interactive course which aims at introducing participants to strategies and resources which work! This full day course will focus on what is exceptional about these students and how to address their needs effectively.
Learn about the key features of Autism, ADHD and ODD, the key cognitive theories which shine a light on students’ behaviour and thinking, and how to address the issues which are presenting in your classroom.
The day will comprise of three sessions:
Session 1: Structure and predictability – how to make this work for your students
Session 2: The early challenges and strategies which work.
Developing resilience and independence
Session 3: Twelve elements for a successful classroom
$300 for a full day program. Cost includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea

Presenter: Kathie Lane
Kathie has an M.Ed in Special Education and over 20 years of experience working with children and young adults on the Autism Spectrum. (In total over 40 years’ teaching experience in mainstream education; K-12 and adults.) She has worked as an Education Consultant across Sydney and interstate, in mainstream schools, building capacity in teachers and families; enabling them to provide a positive, supportive learning environment for their young person with ASD. She specialises in behaviour management within the education setting, and is experienced at providing resources and strategies for teachers to enhance and adjust their teaching. Kathie’s main area of focus in the last ten years has been in positive behaviour support in mainstream education for teenagers and young adults on the Spectrum.
